Some of your clients and customers prefer Signal for its privacy. Sausalito Labs captures those business conversations from each employee's own phone and delivers them to your archive for regulatory and legal recordkeeping. No second phone, no new number, no new app. Personal conversations stay personal.

Why Signal is hard to archive
Signal is built so that no one but the people in a conversation can read it. That's why many clients trust it, and it's also why Signal conversations are so often missing from a firm's books and records.
Every Signal message, call and attachment is end-to-end encrypted, and Signal keeps almost nothing about its users. When subpoenaed, Signal says it can provide only the date an account was created and the date it last connected. There is no carrier copy and no server copy to fall back on.
See Signal's published subpoena responses →Disappearing messages have long been part of Signal, and since 2021 users can turn them on by default for every new chat, with timers from seconds to weeks. A record that deletes itself is a record your firm no longer has.
In the SEC's off-channel enforcement actions, Signal is named alongside iMessage and WhatsApp as an app regulated employees used on personal devices for business conversations that weren't preserved. Financial firms were first, but the same duty applies anywhere a chat may be needed for an audit, an investigation or a litigation hold.
Read SEC press release 2023-149 →If your clients choose Signal, those conversations still need to be part of your books and records.
Sausalito Labs works with Signal's own built-in functionality, so your team keeps using the Signal app they already have. There's nothing to install on the phone and no change to how they message clients.

Yes. Since 2024, Signal lets people start a chat with a username instead of a phone number. Sausalito Labs captures those conversations too, and you can select them by contact name.
Messages are archived as they arrive, so a copy reaches your record store even if the chat has a disappearing message timer turned on or the message is later deleted.
