Your clients and customers text your team, and on Android those texts land in Google Messages. Sausalito Labs captures those business conversations, RCS and SMS, from each employee's own phone and delivers them to your archive for regulatory and legal recordkeeping. No second phone, no new number, no new app. Personal conversations stay personal.

Why Google Messages is hard to archive
SMS text messages used to be the easy part. Carriers kept a copy, and carrier-based archiving could pick them up. The catch is that SMS messages are sent and stored unencrypted, so anyone who intercepts them can read them, which is why CISA recommends end-to-end encrypted messaging instead. On Android, that changed when Google Messages added RCS texting.
Read CISA's mobile communications guidance →One-to-one RCS chats in Google Messages have been end-to-end encrypted since 2021, and group chats since 2023. Since May 2026, RCS chats between Android and iPhone users are encrypted too. The carrier still delivers the message but can't read it, so carrier-based archiving can no longer process these conversations.
Since August 2023, Google Messages has used RCS for new and existing users by default. Read receipts, reactions, high-resolution photos and group chats all travel over RCS, so many of the texts your clients send are now RCS, not SMS.
In September 2022, the SEC charged 16 firms more than $1.1 billion after employees used text messaging apps on their personal phones for business conversations that weren't preserved. Financial firms were first, but the same duty applies anywhere a chat may be needed for an audit, an investigation or a litigation hold.

Sausalito Labs works with Google Messages' own built-in functionality, so your team keeps using the messaging app already on their Android phone. There's nothing to install on the phone and no change to how they text clients.
